There is a way to increase the amount of stamina that you can use each day. You must collect special berries known as Power Berries, or Berries of the Power Tree. There are a total of 10 Power Berries in Harvest Moon (SNES). You start the game with 100 points of stamina (SP) that can be increased to 200 points of stamina, by collecting all of the Power Berries. Stamina can be replenished by eating food and using the Spa. Here is how you react at certain intervals of Stamina in the beginning:

100 points (you are fine); 50 points (you start to sweat); 25 points (you start breathing harder; 0 points (you collapse)

Each Power Berry you get increases your stamina by 10 points. This is also applied to the scale shown above.

Snes powerberry Locations of Power Berries[]

  1. The first Power Berry is found by plowing your field with the Hoe until you find one. There isn't a technique or set number of plots you have to plow before it shows up; it is all a matter of luck.
  2. Plow your field to randomly find one (again). Cannot be found on the same day as the first berry.
  3. When an earthquake hits, go to the Goddess Pond. Chop the right tree stump near the pond and there will be a hole below it. Enter it and you will get one.
  4. Catch a fish and throw it back where you caught it (must be the first fish you've caught that day). You can only get one Power Berry by doing this, so there is no need to do this multiple times. Note that you need to throw it back in the east end of the pond, not the west.
  5. Go to the forest and chop up the tree stumps to randomly find one.
  6. Smash the chicken statue at the crossroads. The hammer upgrade isn't required. If you don't get the Power Berry the first time, leave and return to the Crossroads and the Chicken Statue will reappear. This is best done at night so you don't waste daylight. Even though the Chicken Statue will continue to reappear after this, you can only get one Power Berry from it.
  7. In the Fall, you will get the opportunity to trade a Chicken for a Power Berry with the wandering Hawker (it doesn't have to be in the 1st year). If you refuse to exchange, you will never be able to make this offer appear again.
  8. At the Harvest Festival (Fall 12), bring a Berry of Fullmoon Plant or a Fish. The Berry of Fullmoon Plant appears on the summit from the 10th to the 12th.
  9. Win the Egg Festival (Fall 20). You will receive either a Power Berry or an anti-disaster charm; if it's the charm, then win the festival again next year.
  10. During Winter, go to the summit and plant a Seed of Snow Flower (buy from Peddler at Flower Festival for 2000G) to get one from a fairy.
